Michael W. Smith To Be On The President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation
This from About Christian Music:
“GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning artist Michael W. Smith has been nominated by the White House to serve a two-year term as a member of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. Smith joins a high-power group of leaders who represent the private and non-profit sectors, government, entertainment, education and athletics. While the backgrounds of each member are varied, they each share a deep commitment to strengthening the culture of volunteer service in America.”
Good for you, Smitty!
I’ve seen MWS in concert twice - once with Amy Grant, and once with Third Day. He’s an amazing piano player and vocalist. And just for old time’s sake, here’s the best MWS album cover EVER (and one that he probably cringes at to this day):
Oh, the hair! Do you see the HAIR!!! The softly styled semi-mullet, and the black porkpie! Sheesh, I remember thinking that this was such high fashion. Sadly if you turn on your local Christian TV station most of the folks on there still dress like this. :>)
