BEC Recordings – A Christian Music Powerhouse

BEC Recordings – A Christian Music Powerhouse

BEC Recordings is seemingly where all the new, hip Christian kids are going to sign up. Some of their clients include Jeremy Camp, Kutless, Falling Up, the Supertones, etc. In fact, if you’d like to view videos or download some free music, go to BEC’s media page, where they’ve got a nice variety to choose from.

Tait-Lose This Life

Tait-Lose This Life

The first time I heard the song “Lose this Life” I totally loved it – in fact, I’m singing along to it right now. Michael Tait, whom the band is named after, was a founding member of DC Talk and is doing a few individual projects, of which this particular song is probably one of my favorites. Be sure to check out the official Tait site; it’s heavy on the Flash but has a ton of good information. And if you’d like to listen to Tait’s newest album, click on the cover:

Whatever happened to Kim Boyce?

Whatever happened to Kim Boyce?

Kim Boyce, extremely active in the Christian music scene in the 80’s and through the mid 90’s, has kind of dropped off the radar. The last album she released was (I believe) back in 1995? Not sure. Anyway, I got to actually meet Kim and her family and we chatted for a bit; I hauled out my old big hair photograph of Kim to autograph (and we all had a good laugh at the really BIG HAIR). Nowadays Kim and her husband Gary are active in the Pierce Arrow Theater music group headquartered in Branson, Missouri. I’d love to …read more

Buddy Greene

Buddy Greene

Most people haven’t heard of Buddy Greene, which is a shame because he’s such an incredibly talented artist! I first heard Buddy Greene’s music back in high school and my youth pastor asked to borrow the tape and then never gave it back (I’m still waiting for that tape Jerry!!!). Greene is a multi-talented musician – he’s an accomplished guitarist, plays a mean harmonica, and he’s also got a Vince Gill-ish voice. Be sure to check out some of his music by clicking on the link below, or check out his site by clicking on the above picture. Just …read more

Randy Stonehill – New CD

Randy Stonehill – New CD

Randy Stonehill, one of the most respected artists in Christian music (and one of the originators of the entire Christian contemporary music movement) has a new CD out, and it looks to be pretty good. You can download entire tracks of the album from the official Randy Stonehill site; these include That’s The Way It Goes, We Were All So Young, and Take Me Back.

Kirk Franklin Talks About His Pornography Addiction and More with CNN

Kirk Franklin Talks About His Pornography Addiction and More with CNN

There’s a really excellent interview with Kirk Franklin over at CNN where the singer discusses his past struggles with pornography, New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina, and getting Christian music and singers recognized in an overtly secular market. Here’s a brief snippet:
“Q: Why did you choose to make your past struggles with pornography public?
FRANKLIN: When I was working on this “Hero” album, there’s a song on there called “Let It Go” and I’m telling my story, and of course that is part of my story and so I did it in the song. And when the Oprah people contacted me …read more

CeCe Winans

CeCe Winans

I’ve long been a fan of CeCe Winans; in fact, one of my most favorite songs of all time has to be her Alabaster Box:
“The room grew still as she made her way to Jesus
She stumbles through the tears that made her blind
She felt such pain, some spoke in anger
Heard folks whisper, there’s no place here for her kind.
Still on she came, through the shame that flushed her face
Until at last she knelt before His feet. And though she spoke no words
Everything she said was heard, As she poured her love for the Master
From her box of Alabaster.
And I’ve …read more
