Chris Tomlin – Not To Us

Chris Tomlin – Not To Us

Seriously, there’s just a ton of great Christian music out there right now and Chris Tomlin is one of the best artists on the scene. I’m loving the Not to Us song:
“Not To Us by Chris Tomlin
The cross before me the world behind
No turning back, raise the banner high
It’s not for me, it’s all for You
Let the heavens shake and split the sky
Let the people clap their hands and cry
It’s not for us, it’s all for You
Chorus:
Not to us, but to Your Name be the glory
Not to us, but to Your Name be the glory
Our hearts unfold before Your throne

Top Ten Larry Norman Songs

Top Ten Larry Norman Songs

I started listening to Larry Norman’s music when I was about 16, at summer camp, and I was a counselor/jack of all trades. I remember very clearly lying on the lake shore and listening to So Long Ago In The Garden about forty hundred times. Here then, are my picks for the top Larry Norman songs – I’d love to hear what your favorites are as well.

She’s a Dancer: from So Long Ago the Garden, part of the Compleat Trilogy.

I’ve Got To Learn to Live Without You again from a part of the Compleat Trilogy, Only Visiting This Planet.

Larry Norman Updates

Larry Norman Updates

The official Larry Norman web site, that is updated, oh, let’s say maybe every six months (note to Solid Rock Crew – could ya maybe fix that?) has a great video of Larry Norman right up front and center, and checking the News and Info page I found out that Larry Norman is going to be doing some touring! ROCK ON! Larry is probably my top favorite Christian rock artist of all time and I had the chance to see him back in 1999 or so out at Seaside Oregon. Read more about the Larry Norman concert, and hey, …read more

Michael English

Michael English

Michael English certainly has had his ups and downs in the Christian music world, in fact, he dropped completely off the map in the mid-1990’s due to some bad personal choices. However, now he seems to be one of the established Christian artists on the Trinity Broadcasting Network, which in my opinion presents about the WORST picture of what real Christianity is. However, that is a rant best left for another day (we’ll get to the gilded chairs, gold chandeliers, and BIG HAIR later, shall we?)
Anyway, I really like Michael English’s song In Christ Alone; here’s a snippet:
“In Christ …read more

I Can Only Imagine Lyrics

I Can Only Imagine Lyrics

Probably the most well-known Christian song of the past few years has to be MercyMe’s I Can Only Imagine. And after you read the lyrics, maybe you’ll see why:
“I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When your face
Is before me
I can only imagine
[Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
I can only …read more

Third Day – Cry Out To Jesus

Third Day – Cry Out To Jesus

I was able to see Third Day in concert a coupla years ago and it was the BEST SHOW EVER. It helped quite a bit that we were practically in the front row, plus Michael W. Smith was there as well. I totally am enjoying the song Cry Out to Jesus from the album Wherever You Are; here’s the lyrics:
“To everyone who’s lost someone they love
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough
when you said goodbye
And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that …read more

Watermark – A Grateful People

Watermark – A Grateful People

Well, I know the next album I’m going to buy – and that would be Watermark’s Grateful People which has the wonderful song The Purest Place on it with Ed Cash. Here’s the lyrics so you’ll see what I mean:
“Paint me with Your purity
That I’d attract Your majesty
When others boast in fame and gold
The purest place is where I’ll go
Chorus:
The purest place I will draw near
Do what it takes to keep me here
In the center of Your heart
The purest place is where You are
It’s not with masses, not with kings
Not in these songs, or offerings
Not in this life, or …read more

Christian Music for Kids – The Top Five Best CD’s

Christian Music for Kids – The Top Five Best CD’s

With three kids, you can bet I have a plethora of some (mostly) great kids music. Here’s the top five Christian Music for Kids CD’s at our house:

My eight year old listens to this one over. And over. And OVER.

This one has very special memories for me. I used this when my firstborn was colicky and it actually ended up putting ME to sleep, not him.

Psalty does some rockin’ and rollin’; this CD is excellent for some Scripture memorization as well.

It’s difficult to find a Christian music for kids CD that doesn’t set your teeth on …read more

Rebecca St. James – God

Rebecca St. James – God

Yes, I know that Rebecca St.James has put out quite a few other albums since God, but it’s the only one I’ve got, so it’s the one I’m going to talk about. So there! Mwaaahhh! It’s Saturday so I get to be kind of silly. Anyway, I love this album, funnily enough I don’t much like the title track “God”, but I totally rock out to the rest of it. Every time I listen to it, I’m transported back five years ago when I was on summer staff at a non-profit Christian conference center and we were getting the …read more
