Review of Michael W. Smith’s “I’ll Lead You Home”
The better half stopped off at a thrift store and picked up Michael W. Smith’s “I’ll Lead You Home” album yesterday, and after I had a chance to listen to it, here’s my review.
Probably the best song on this CD is “As It Is In Heaven.” I absolutely love this song. The rest of the album I liked as well, but this song did it for me.
Each of the 14 songs on this album are a snapshot of where Smitty’s heart was at the time with God. It’s a devotional album, pure and simple.
However, it’s not one that I’m going to listen to over and over again. Most of the melodies are so simplistic that they are audibly jarring, and while I totally am a big fan of Michael’s, I don’t like his technique of finding a hook and sticking with it. Over and over and OVER.
Good album for hard core Smitty fans, but not one that I’m going to be pulling out again anytime soon.
