What Is Your Absolute Favorite Christian Song
Someone recently asked me what my favorite “religious” song was. I didn’t really prefer that naming of a “Christian” song, but I obviously knew what they meant by the question.
As I thought about it, my first thought was to not choose one of the current favorites because how can a recent song be my all time favorite? That led me to thinking about songs I enjoyed when I was much younger and growing up. Nothing really stood out to me as an all time favorite still.
I then thought about the great hymns that were sung in church as I was growing up: Amazing Grace, How Grout Thou Art, He Lives, etc.
I then stopped at “It Is Well With My Soul”. I chose this one as my favorite because of the history of the song and the emotion that stirs up within me when I hear it. Yet, I also thought about the recent remake done by Jars of Clay on their Redemption Songs album and it solidified the song as my choice.
How about you?
What’s your ALL-TIME FAVORITE Christian song? Why is it your favorite? Are the lyrics what stands out to you or the melody of the music?
Let me know in the comments.

I love “How Great Thou Art” so much!!! I never payed much attention to the words at first, until about five? six? years ago, when my grandmother said she liked that song, but couldn’t remember all the verses, and then she asked if I knew it. That led me to hunt for the lyrics and learn the song so that I could sing it with her. Good times.
I always loved “Eye Has Not Seen” and “Ashes.” I just have great memories of singing those songs in church, and also at home, with my grandfather and my mom.
More recently, I’ve grown to love “Here I Am to Worship,” “Redeeming Love,” and “Shout to the Lord.” They’re favorites in my youth group; a lot of us play guitar, and we’ve all led worship at one point or another, and I love how I can worship with my guitar also, besides my voice. Sometimes I prefer to just sing, other times, to just play, it depends on the song.

It’s hard the pick THE absolute favorite, but i would have to say that “He’s Alive” by Don Francisco is definitely on the top of my list!
I would agree with Ais that “How Great Thou Art is a very powerful and wonderful song too.

Funny I should come across this question after having finally rediscovered an old song thats been in my heart since I was a little kid. Many things came and went but one song always remained there to remind me that God has a plan for each of us. Its titled “He didnt bring us this far”. Singing about his path for us and why He would not direct us as He does just to abandon us. He is always with us.
Along with this, I was presented a song among songs that at a point in my life was not viable but later became the emphesis of my ministry. It is by Petra: For Annie. Dealing with the question, do sour children really know that we love them. It sings about a young girl who didnt kow that lovce and took her life with that feeling in her heart and the conviction those left behind had to deal with. Its NOT too late for all the other kids to know that love. Reminding us to love everyone and to let them know as much as possible.
