Its seems a little weird to be listening to Christmas music this early in the year, but with so many new Christmas albums coming out I figured I’d do what I can to let you all know about some of the albums that are available. In this case, maybe one you’d not have even thought about purchasing.

I wrote a few weeks ago about Amy Grant releasing a new album of her greatest hits. I’ve been listening to it now for a couple of weeks and it’s really like taking a walk down memory lane.
I’ve always appreciated her music and talent and she’s obviously had a number of hits that were probably as popular in the mainstream music market as any of her hits were that were purely a Christian music release.

I received an e-mail today from someone letting me know about a new movie coming out. Given the context and the information behind the author of the books the movie is based on I thought my readers might be interested in the details and be informed. The movie is titled “The Golden Compass”

As you can see, the movie looks very well produced and has a pretty large cast of great actors.

Mandisa appeared on Trinity Broadcasting Network’s Praise the Lord show last night. I just got the e-mail so I wasn’t aware of her appearing before now. She performed more songs from her debut album “True Beauty”.
If that wasn’t enough, Mandisa has a Christmas album that will be released on November 20th. It’s a short, four-song album including these four songs:

Donnie McClurkin, gospel singer, is touring with Barack Obama to help raise funds for his campaign and run for the presidency. A gay rights group is urging Obama to drop McClurkin because of his opinions on homosexuality being a choice.
McClurkin is a Grammy Award winner who performed at the Republican National Convention in 2004. He told AP Radio in an interview that September that he was “once involved with those desires and those thoughts,” which he attributed to being raped at 8 and 13.

The song “East to West” has been in the Top 10 CCM songs now for awhile. It’s by Casting Crowns and is on their newest album “The Altar and the Door”.
The lyrics are powerful and sometimes I think we lose the lyrics in our thought process when we’ve heard a song over and over as it becomes popular and played regularly.
