Over the last few years I’ve spent less time focusing on Christian music, and more time on good music. I was feeling a divergence in myself about the place of Christian music… it seemed too much Christian music was crap.

I find it interesting now to see that most of what’s very popular in Christian music seems much more worship service friendly than it did some years back. I can only hope this means the bands that aren’t at the centre of what’s popular in Christian music are focusing on their craft and aiming to create excellent music… in whatever “side” of the industry they find themselves.

I see no point in debates about crossover bands, and bands selling out. If people are doing what they were born to do, what God created them to do, then that’s worship right?

    Good stuff.

Interesting thoughts Jonathan and I think I agree with you on everything. The majority of popular Christian music today is in the “passion” or “modern” worship category. But I guess that’s what makes it popular right? I hadn’t thought about it before, but the wondering about all the other Christian music that’s being created but not being “spotlighted” is curious. If you’ve ever got some music or bands you’d like to let me know of, just send me a comment or an e-mail.
