What It Means to Be a Father
Someone recently shared the video below with me on my Facebook page. It’s a video about Dick and Rick Hoyt. I’d seen this video before when I attended a Promise Keepers event and there’s not a better example of a father’s love on the face of this planet.
Briefly, Dick Hoyt gives him the world be participating in a variety of triathlon and other road races together. When some people only worry about dragging themselves across the finish line, Dick carries, pulls and pushes his son with him for the entire length of the race.
The story itself makes the tears …read more

Christian Punk – Goodnight Wednesday
One of the genres of music that I’m probably most out of touch with is punk music. I’ve just never had that much exposure to it. I’m not sure if it’s because of that or just personal preference, but it’s just not one of my preferred musical styles.
Luckily for us that doesn’t stop Sammi over at 52 Bands from recommending Goodnight Wednesday to us. She’s been covering them all week with a variety of posts.
Monday: New Artist Monday: Goodnight Wednesday
Tuesday: I Never Said They Were Boring: Goodnight Wednesday
Wednesday: Recording Project: Goodnight Wednesday

Jordin Sparks New Album Family Friendly
Jordin Sparks has now released her debut album and thankfully she’s consciously and actively maintained her innocence and wholesome image for the album.
“I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to sing about,” Sparks said, “but I knew what I didn’t want to sing about.”
That’s good stuff to hear in my opinion and I’m sure it reverberates with our readers too.
That’s especially true of one the more personal songs on the album, “God Loves Ugly,” about overcoming insecurity about appearance. It may seem like an odd choice for the young beauty, but the song resonated with Sparks, especially after she endured …read more

Second Thoughts on "The Golden Compass"
I’m sure everyone by now has probably heard of the upcoming movie “The Golden Compass” even if they’re not familiar with the buzz about the movie coming from the Christian camps. I wrote about it here and since then my brother has shared some of his thoughts about the buzz and the movie as well.
His thoughts don’t completely change my mind about the need to be wary of movies like this and not go blindly into the world thinking everything is just entertainment and there’s no chance of ulterior motives.
The problem though, as stated clearly by my brother, is when …read more

Casting Crowns Wins American Music Award
A hearty congratulations to Casting Crowns for winning an American Music Award the other night. We should probably also thank everyone that voted for them to get the award.
If you’ve ever seen the group in concert you know that what you experience is much more than a concert. It’s a great praise and worship experience. For them to win this award and be able to maintain that type of atmosphere and ministry is really to be commended.
Superman Nate Huss
Just saw this picture of Nate Huss during a show. He posted the site on his MySpace page talking about how high he was jumping.
I’d agree, that’s pretty stinkin’ high. I’m trying to see if he jumped off of something, but I don’t see anything that he could have near or under him.
What do you think?
I think Nate Huss can fly!
