Steve Counsel "Deliverance Song" Extended Mix

Steve Counsel "Deliverance Song" Extended Mix

Just got an e-mail from Steve Counsel letting me know what he’s been up to since the start of the year.
He’s working on some tracks now that were recorded at West Lake Studios before Christmas with his band. This is the same studio where Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” LP was recorded, but as Steve said he’s looking for some hits to come out of this one and not zombies. Good call Steve!
Here shared a link with me of an extended mix of his “Deliverance Song”. The mix really highlights his hard-hitting guitar talent and showcases it. The solo at the …read more

Tim Juillet "Give Me Words" Album Review

Tim Juillet "Give Me Words" Album Review

I was contacted a few weeks ago by Tim Juillet asking me if I’d be interested in listening to his new album and reviewing it on the website. I told him I’d be glad to give it a listen and share my review on the website.
I received the album in the mail a couple of weeks ago and have been listening to it off-and-on ever since. My standard procedure is to leave the album in my laptop or burn it to my iPod and listen to it as I’m doing a variety of things.
One of the first things I …read more

Matthew West Featured on Yahoo! Music Engine

Matthew West Featured on Yahoo! Music Engine

I’m sure I’ve said it before, but Yahoo Music Engine is the musical portal of choice at our office during the days. I’ve noticed that Matthew West has been getting some exposure on their site, you can see me highlighting it in the image above.
A recent article I was reading also talked about Matthew West’s newest release, “Something to Say”.
I didn’t realize he was as prolific a songwriter as he was with some really big name clients on his repertoire: Rachael Lampa, Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flatts and Mandisa.
Chris Well said this about the album in CCM Magazine:

Jeff Johnson Embarks on Glorious Tour ‘08

I wrote a review of Jeff Johnson’s “Glorious Day” album late last year. If you remember, he was a contestant on American Idol a few years back and has pursued his music further and is doing well.
He’ll be starting off on his Glorious Tour 2008 in February and will hopefully be hitting a city near you on the tour.
You can visit his MySpace page for a full list of dates and locations.
If you’re able to go catch him in concert and get some photos, be sure and send us a link to your photo or e-mail us a copy.

Blake Bollinger’s "No Holiday" Album Review

Blake Bollinger’s "No Holiday" Album Review

Another artist I’ve been listening to for awhile and just hadn’t gotten around to writing a review about them has been Blake Bollinger.
Blake’s album “No Holiday” is his solo album debut, but he’s gotten plenty of experience under his belt with his former band Destination Known as well as leading worship at the 2nd Baptist Church in Houston on their Pearland Campus.
This thirteen track debut album presents a bit more contemporary and energetic sound than what he started off doing. He says his work has matured and grown from simple acoustic guitar and piano ballads as he’s felt …read more

Joey Witham – Great Homesickness

Joey Witham – Great Homesickness

I’ve been listening to Joey Witham’s “Great Homesickness” CD now for a number of months. I’ve been meaning to get a review up but I keep listening to it over and over trying to think of more great things to say about it.
The problem is the music just speaks for itself. He’s got a great talent for leading you through his lyrics and tying you into the music through the entire journey.
He reminds me a little bit of Mat Kearney and maybe a little Chris Daughtry on his rocking songs.

Creation Festival Prepares for 30th Anniversary

Creation Festival Prepares for 30th Anniversary

It must have been Creation ‘95 that I went to but never saw a single concert. I was schedule to help with the setup and tear down of the event grounds. For the first time in my life though I experienced something along the lines of “homesickness”, except I wasn’t sick for home. The challenge was that I was in the middle of a great event with not a single friend to share it with. I ended up leaving early, before the concert even started and drove across the country to Kansas City to surprise visit a friend from …read more
