Matt Conner has a great interview with Third Day over on the CCM Blog. As everyone is anticipating the final availability and full release of their newest album “Revelation” this interview gives you even more reasons to be a fan of this tremendous group of guys.
“What was funny with this record is that we got everything we could have wanted,” says Anderson. “We’ve learned that the limitations that people feel for Christian music are self-imposed. We can prevent our own progression. If we could just be bold enough to go for what we really want, we might actually get it. We’ve learned this over the years. We wanted Brendan O’Brien [Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Train] to mix our albums for years, and we were told that it couldn’t happen. So finally, I just picked up the phone, called him myself and he said, ‘Oh yeah, I love the band. I’d love to do it.’ Along the way, people were just assuming he wouldn’t do it.
How many times do I (or you) apologize and limit ourselves for what we think is reality which in God’s reality isn’t what we’d expect at all for our lives?

As I was looking for a new video of Brandon Heath’s new song “Give Me Your Eyes” I came across this other great song by Brandon, but American Idol’s Jason Castro is performing it in the video below.
Jason still has the sound that I like, I’m sure his album will be one I purchase when it comes out. My question is whether or not it will be released on a Christian label or not.

Today in our service our special song was a new one by Brandon Heath called “Give Me Your Eyes”. My wife had told me about it earlier this week and told me I should find the video on YouTube and blog about it.
I found the two videos below, I like the first one much better.
This one is taken from the actual recording it sounds like and is put together with still images in Microsoft Photo Story or something.
The next video is from a live performance with a guy performing live beat-box percussion with Brandon Heath playing. It seems like Brandon got a little tired of the “extras” that the guy was adding into the performance.
The last video is Brandon sharing the meaning behind the video.

I was just introduced to a new artist tonight by the name of Megan Krantz. Here’s a video of her performing her song “So Few Words”.
Another great find! It’s interesting I want to see new but familiar sounding music, which is good.
What do you think?
You can visit her website at www.megankrantz.com or her MySpace page

More photos are now available from the quintessential Third Day fan. The Carowind’s show was Jamie and Traci’s 50th Third Day show and they were able to celebrate it and have what appeared to be loads of fun.
Visit the Third Day Pix website now for more great photos!

Warning, not directly related to Christian music. However, it’s related to our church services and worship experience we try to set in our church so I figured it might be interesting to some of you.
Spent quite a bit of time at the church last night working on the new set for our new sermon series titled “DISCIPLE”. We had originally wanted to project the letters “DISCIPLE” onto the back wall with people’s faces inside the letters like this.
Due to some funding constraints on projectors that would make this work we decided we just couldn’t swing it. We finally landed on Plan C which diverted away from the aesthetics directly related to series title and just a general look, which will be incorporated into worship slides and other graphics.
After 8 hours at the church last night, we got it all done. I created some wiring components to allow us to plug some regular lights into our light battens and control them from the board. We then hung paper lanterns and balls and panels to create a general look of randomness and color. We ended up with this:
UPDATE: Just received this picture from one of the people that was helping. She took it with her phone as we were putting things up. Nothing lit.
That’s me up on the lift. I’m waving at you (not really, but if I knew she was taking a picture I would have been!)
What do you think?

“Who Am I” by Casting Crowns, one of my favorite songs, performed by a blacklight drama group at a church. I’ve seen this similar performance done to this song live and it’s quite moving.
Who’d have though! Blacklights in church!
What do you think? I love it. Do you have a video like this you’d like to share? Just let me know.

I guess it’s a pretty good problem to have in that I’m getting introduced to so much great music I can’t keep up. The latest album for me to review comes from Sarah MacIntosh and the album “The Waiters, The Watchers, The Listeners, The Keepers & Me”.
Perhaps the longest album title I’ve ever seen, but perhaps it’s a reflection of the depth of good music on this album.
After doing some quick background searching about Sarah I’ve found that she used to be the lead singer for a group called “Chasing Furies”, which you may be familiar. If so, then you’re aware of the great voice that Sarah has to share with us on her own album. I don’t remember ever listening to Chasing Furies, so my experience in hearing Sarah on this album is as a completely new listener.
